Production Blog: Let’s Get Down to Editing

Image
The beginning of editing this project was very interesting. I used new editing apps for this final task. These apps made my grroup's final project 10 times better. But, it was kind of hard because I wasn't used to using these new apps. The new editing software apps that I used were Filmmaker Pro and Cute Cut. I was also able to remember tricks that I usually use while editing. My back up editing app that I used for extra edits was CapCut.I also used iMovie. So, I used all of these apps to make sure that my project came out the way that I wanted it to. While getting all of my clips together, I noticed that I had to re-film some clips. I have to re-film for 3 reasons. One reason was that the clips were never filmed. What I mean by that is the actors were acting, it’s just the camera never pressed play. The second reason is that I ran out of storage and had to make some space to finish filming. The third reason is that it just needs a retake so it can look and flow better when I e

Production Blog: Cast Issues

Image
For the final project, my group decided to let me take control of casting. The reasons why was because of many reasons. One reason that I know how to get things done. My group mates know I don’t play around when it comes to big things like this. Another reason was because they know that I’m pretty popular. They knew that because of how known I am, it wouldn’t be hard to find cast members. Boy were they wrong. Yes, I get things done. They were right about that. But they were wrong about it being easy to find cast members. Actually it was pretty easy to find people. But, it was hard to find somebody who wasn’t busy to be apart of the cast. For one, I found my main female character in a quick second. Now, my group and I wanted to include a male character. I know a lot of males but every male that I knew was busy. Luckily, I found one. Sadly, he bailed on me and I had to find a replacement. I couldn’t find a replacement male so we decided that the male character would just be changed to a

Production Blog: Finishing the Scenes

Image
I finally finished filming all my scenes on March 15th. The scenes that I shot were easy to film since there wasn’t that much in them. There was not much dialogue in these scenes. There was a little bit of conversation from here and there. But, these scenes were mainly silent. Filming these scenes were very interesting. There were awkward moments. During those awkward moments, me or my actors would laugh or say something. This resulted in those scenes having to be reshot. Luckily we had enough time to shoot these scenes again. After shooting those scenes again, I reviewed them and made sure that everything was up to par. Every single scene looked good. But, I felt like the scenes were missing something. Like, the scenes had no pizazz to them. Gratefully, I was able to come up with new ideas to incorporate into the scenes. So, we ended up reshooting again. After that, I went home. When I got home, I imported the final scenes of my film onto my editing software. Once those scenes uploa

Production Blog: Filming Struggles

My group’s filming process was hard. Unfortunately, my main character couldn't take part in my film anymore. She was on lockdown because of what she had going on at home. She had family issues so she couldn’t leave her house. At first I thought it wasn’t that big of a deal. As a result, of this very hard situation, I had to find a replacement. Especially with me being the director, this all fell on me to replace my main character. Even though it’s stressful, it needs to be done. It took some time to find a replacement but when l did, it made things so much better. I also feel like with my new actor, things will run so much smoother. I say this because, now I am more aware of what to expect. Last time I was surprised by all the struggles I went through to film. I now know how to be a better director. I also learned how to get the best shots and manage my time wisely. I want to get started right away so that I can get back on track. I am now off track with my schedule because of the

Production Blog: Filming

The filming process for this final task was a long one. On February 26th, I began my first day of filming. With me being the director and cameraman, I had to think of how I was also going to film and make sure I get all of the necessary angles. One of my group mates also forgot our props so the filming wasn't really in order. Even though my group mate forget props, things were still okay. Everything was okay because I drive a car. It’s a 2022 Kia Soul. Gratefully, I had some tools in mar. Tools were the main prop that was needed for our film. After I made a stop to my car to check if I had some tools, I grabbed them and went back to where my group was. So after my stop to my car, I had to make another stop. I had to stop to the bathroom. This was because my actors had to do a costume change. Once I finished making my stops, I went straight to filming. Filming went smoothly. My actors listened very well to me and told me that I was good when it came to taking charge. They even gav

Production Blog: Setting the Foundation

When I film, I plan on to complete drafts of the film. I will have my actors act out their parts before any filming is done. I will do this so that the filming process can be made easier for everyone. Then I will will film just the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th scene. I won't film the 2nd scene because that scene is located at school. I plan on filming that scene on another day. For each scene, I will be filming it in a landscape angle. I will try to match the scene with the time which it was said to be in. For an example, scene 5 I will close the curtains so that it will look like it was filmed in the evening. This will be done for every scene after scene 5 as well. When I edit the film I will start by just simply placing each scene where they need to be. Then I will clean it up by cutting the unnecessary parts. I will then add voiceovers and background noises. I will do this by making the sounds a file on my computer. Then I will simply add them onto to my project. After I add them to
