Intro Blog


 My name is Autumn Alfred and I am a junior in high school. A lot of people usually don't know this about me, but I am a Christian and I am very serious when it comes to my Christianity. I love to spread the Gospel and just tell people all about God and His Son Jesus because They both are just so amazing. I work part-time at Pollo Tropical. I also am apart of band. I am in auxiliary, I specifically am a dancer. In my free time I like to read and write. I like to specifically read my Bible and write notes on what I read or about whatever pops up on my spirit. When I am not writing notes, I like to write random stories. I really love writing and just expressing myself in general. Writing is kind of like an outlet for me. I also really like to do YouTube: record videos, edit, and post them. I am trying to grow my audience on YouTube at the moment. I am currently taking 3 AICE classes: English Language A Level, Media Studies, and US History. There are many reasons behind why I am taking all of my AICE classes and one of the main ones is because of college and to better my future. But, I have many reasons as to why I am specifically taking this class, AICE Media. I want to learn how to edit and record more, like learn new techniques so I can get better at making videos for YouTube. I also want to learn how to make my stories that I write, come to life through the film making process. I just want to honestly learn more and new things to enhance my techniques and skills when it comes to editing, filming, and writing. I honestly feel like this class will be really good for me and I am so grateful I am able to take this class just so I can accomplish a lot of my future goals.

After watching the film 'Dreamgirls', I noticed they used the drama elements sound, thought, plot, and character. Deena, Effie, and Lorrell are a music trio originally naming themselves the dreamettes. They met a manger named Curtis Taylor Jr. who promised to take them to the top of the game. The manger then begins to take too much control from the girls and then began to cause them to break apart one by one. This is the plot of the film. This film uses a lot of music. Some songs that they include are 'Listen' which was sung by Deena. Deena sung this song to express how she was feeling in the midst of the whole situation. She felt as if the manger wasn't listening to her from within. Another song that was sung was 'And I am Telling I'm Not Going' which was sung by Effie. Genre Research Blog: Thriller

The second genre that my group will be researching is thriller. Some elements of a thriller are a n action-packed opening, a  likeable protagonist, an unlikable antagonist, c liffhangers, character growth, a lesson, a t icking clock, which shows that the protagonist can be fighting with time, and an amazing, epic ending. Thrillers often have a race-against-time aspect to them – something that adds to the suspense and fuels the reader’s adrenaline rush. Whether it is a (literal) ticking time bomb or a criminal who will be sentenced to death in 48 hours if not proven innocent, this really adds to the pace of the book Lighting used in thrillers usually are low key lighting. Genre Research Blog: Drama

The first genre that my group will be researching is drama.  Lighting used in drama are usually three-point or high key lighting. The lighting is used to set the mood of the scene and match the setting. Camera angles used in drama films are low angle, high angle, and canted angle. Low angle is used to make the person appear more confident. High angle is used to do the exact opposite of what low angle does for the actor. High angle makes the actor appear more vulnerable and less confident. Canted angle is used to add an dramatic effect on the screen. It is known to further express chaos or the madness appearing in the scene. Camera movements used in drama films are tilt, pan, and reverse zoom. These movements are all used to further emphasize the mood in the scene Makeup, costumes and props varies because of the different types of drama films.
