This is my CCR for my final task. I had an amazing time filming this and going through this entire process. I can't wait to see what's to come in the A Level of this Media Studies class.

My Final Task: The Through The Struggle Film

Image
This is the final piece of my final task. The whole process was fun and also creative. I love how it increased my creativity over the time I was completing the project. I was very stressed out during this period of time because things kept happening and problems kept coming up. But, it was well worth it because I’m very proud of the outcome!

Production Blog: I am STRESSED

Image
This whole final project is very hard to be honest. It’s not hard because it’s complicated. This project is hard because there’s a lot riding on this final project. Also, me being the person I am, I’m putting way more pressure on myself when it comes to this project. I know how important this is so I want to make sure everything is perfect. I know nothing is perfect but I want to make sure that I pass this exam when it comes down to it. I want to make sure I get my Cambridge diploma. The last day of editing my project didn’t help decrease the amount of stress I already had on myself either. Instead it added to it. Like I said, this last part was very stressful. It took me a while to finish setting up the title sequence for the film. This was because my editing software was running slow. It took a long time to process what I asked for. I was so worried that I wouldn't have been able to complete the title sequence. I ended up adjusting to the slowness of the software. Although it was...

Production Blog: The Finishing Touches

Image
My group mates and I had our short film reviewed. We got it reviewed by our band teacher. Her name is Ms. Lotocky but everybody calls her LoLo. We were so lucky to get our film reviewed by LoLo when we did. She gave us helpful tips to edit and fix our film. From her critiques, we learned that we needed to refilm a specific scene in our film. After refilming that scene we added it to our editing apps and fixed everything up to make sure the scenes flow. LoLo also mentioned that we our cuts and edits were kind of choppy. Luckily we had time to fix everything and make it look nice. The editing process is taking longer than what I had expected. The hardest part is what I believed would be the easiest. That part is importing scenes onto my computer then onto my editing software. Working on my title sequence was much easier than I thought as well. LoLo also pointed out that the background music was kind of loud. I thought that I fixed that but something might’ve went wrong while I was editin...

Production Blog: We’re Making Changes!!

Image
During the whole process of making my film, there was a realization that I received. That realization was that some parts of the plot, made no sense whatsoever. So, changes were made to the plot. The changes were made right before the filming process started. The storyboard and planning were both finished, but I wasn't content with the plot. So, there were multiple changes in the whole plan of the music video. There was changes in characters, the storyline, and even a location. So, my original main character had to cancel due to personal reasons. I had to find a new main character and quick. Gratefully, I was able to find one. There will be a change in the main location too. Our new location had to be a gas station because we couldn’t find an auto shop to use as our filming area. An additional location will be a car. And of course, the storyline will be changed as well. So, the first couple of scenes will be changing. The film will no longer start off with the main character’s sto...

Film Review

Image
For me and my group’s film we wanted a outside perspective on how it looked before submitting our final piece. We did not want any friends or family reviewing it because we didn't want any bias to be portrayed in the review. Instead we wanted one of instructors to evaluate our piece because they are very experienced in that field. Utilizing our teachers is very convenient because they are very accessible to us. Since we see them everyday for classes finding the time to talk to them would not be an issue. Deciding which teacher would review our film was the difficult part. All of our relationships with our teachers are different. We really wanted to make sure that no bias was present. Since we all have Ms. Lotocky as our band teacher we all agreed to ask her. Gratefully, she agreed to review our media. First, she complimented the acting. She said that emotions were portrayed really well. She also really enjoyed the overall theme we incorporated in our film. Although we did a lot of ...

Production Blog: Let’s Get Down to Editing

Image
The beginning of editing this project was very interesting. I used new editing apps for this final task. These apps made my grroup's final project 10 times better. But, it was kind of hard because I wasn't used to using these new apps. The new editing software apps that I used were Filmmaker Pro and Cute Cut. I was also able to remember tricks that I usually use while editing. My back up editing app that I used for extra edits was CapCut.I also used iMovie. So, I used all of these apps to make sure that my project came out the way that I wanted it to. While getting all of my clips together, I noticed that I had to re-film some clips. I have to re-film for 3 reasons. One reason was that the clips were never filmed. What I mean by that is the actors were acting, it’s just the camera never pressed play. The second reason is that I ran out of storage and had to make some space to finish filming. The third reason is that it just needs a retake so it can look and flow better when I e...

Production Blog: Cast Issues

Image
For the final project, my group decided to let me take control of casting. The reasons why was because of many reasons. One reason that I know how to get things done. My group mates know I don’t play around when it comes to big things like this. Another reason was because they know that I’m pretty popular. They knew that because of how known I am, it wouldn’t be hard to find cast members. Boy were they wrong. Yes, I get things done. They were right about that. But they were wrong about it being easy to find cast members. Actually it was pretty easy to find people. But, it was hard to find somebody who wasn’t busy to be apart of the cast. For one, I found my main female character in a quick second. Now, my group and I wanted to include a male character. I know a lot of males but every male that I knew was busy. Luckily, I found one. Sadly, he bailed on me and I had to find a replacement. I couldn’t find a replacement male so we decided that the male character would just be changed to a ...

Production Blog: Finishing the Scenes

Image
I finally finished filming all my scenes on March 15th. The scenes that I shot were easy to film since there wasn’t that much in them. There was not much dialogue in these scenes. There was a little bit of conversation from here and there. But, these scenes were mainly silent. Filming these scenes were very interesting. There were awkward moments. During those awkward moments, me or my actors would laugh or say something. This resulted in those scenes having to be reshot. Luckily we had enough time to shoot these scenes again. After shooting those scenes again, I reviewed them and made sure that everything was up to par. Every single scene looked good. But, I felt like the scenes were missing something. Like, the scenes had no pizazz to them. Gratefully, I was able to come up with new ideas to incorporate into the scenes. So, we ended up reshooting again. After that, I went home. When I got home, I imported the final scenes of my film onto my editing software. Once those scenes u...

Production Blog: Filming Struggles

Image
My group’s filming process was hard. Unfortunately, my main character couldn't take part in my film anymore. She was on lockdown because of what she had going on at home. She had family issues so she couldn’t leave her house. At first I thought it wasn’t that big of a deal. As a result, of this very hard situation, I had to find a replacement. Especially with me being the director, this all fell on me to replace my main character. Even though it’s stressful, it needs to be done. It took some time to find a replacement but when l did, it made things so much better. I also feel like with my new actor, things will run so much smoother. I say this because, now I am more aware of what to expect. Last time I was surprised by all the struggles I went through to film. I now know how to be a better director. I also learned how to get the best shots and manage my time wisely. I want to get started right away so that I can get back on track. I am now off track with my schedule because of the ...

Production Blog: Filming

Image
The filming process for this final task was a long one. On February 26th, I began my first day of filming. With me being the director and cameraman, I had to think of how I was also going to film and make sure I get all of the necessary angles. One of my group mates also forgot our props so the filming wasn't really in order. Even though my group mate forget props, things were still okay. Everything was okay because I drive a car. It’s a 2022 Kia Soul. Gratefully, I had some tools in mar. Tools were the main prop that was needed for our film. After I made a stop to my car to check if I had some tools, I grabbed them and went back to where my group was. So after my stop to my car, I had to make another stop. I had to stop to the bathroom. This was because my actors had to do a costume change. Once I finished making my stops, I went straight to filming. Filming went smoothly. My actors listened very well to me and told me that I was good when it came to taking charge. They even gav...

Production Blog: Setting the Foundation

Image
When I film, I plan on to complete drafts of the film. I will have my actors act out their parts before any filming is done. I will do this so that the filming process can be made easier for everyone. Then I will will film just the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th scene. I won't film the 2nd scene because that scene is located at school. I plan on filming that scene on another day. For each scene, I will be filming it in a landscape angle. I will try to match the scene with the time which it was said to be in. For an example, scene 5 I will close the curtains so that it will look like it was filmed in the evening. This will be done for every scene after scene 5 as well. When I edit the film I will start by just simply placing each scene where they need to be. Then I will clean it up by cutting the unnecessary parts. I will then add voiceovers and background noises. I will do this by making the sounds a file on my computer. Then I will simply add them onto to my project. After I add them to...

Planning for the Final Task: Title Design

Image
The opening credits of our film will be in a cursive font. The name of the font is Writing. This font will be used for the whole opening credits. The titles will fade into the screen, then it will fade away. It will be on the screen for about 5 seconds before fading away. Since its only a few words, I believe that's a good enough time to read. This is how the titles will appear on the screen throughout the opening credits: “ 𝒯𝒽𝓇𝑜𝓊𝑔𝒽 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒮𝓉𝓇𝓊𝑔𝑔𝓁𝑒” The titles will be displayed onto the screen in purple and white with a Script MT font. I chose cursive and purple because purple is known for a majestic vibe. My film circulates around the royalty of all black women in the world and how they should be seen as queens and nothing less. If needed, back up fonts will be “Monospace”. Here’s how it looks. For the font size, we decided that we didn’t want to make the font size too big or too small. So we chose the font size 20-24. We don't want the words to look like they a...

Title Research: Watch the Title Website

Image
After visiting the 'Watch the Titles Website' I was wowed by many title sequences. I visited this website to conduct research on different title sequences for my two minute project film. I will be using different title designs for my project, so it is essential that I complete some research on it before I actually get started on it. I came across many different title sequences. They all included descriptions explaining what the title sequence was made for. It also explains the process the title sequence went through to be produced. I also saw the title sequences in motion. All of which I saw were unique and creative. I learnt that important title sequence such as the ones I viewed on the website takes a lot of team work to make. Overall, these sequences all look like they took a lot of time to perfect and it amazes me how much team work and effort it takes to produce such beautiful styles.
